Dedicated to excellence in orthopaedics

Mark is a Queensland trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder and upper limb surgery. After earning his orthopaedic fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, he pursued additional post-fellowship training years in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, as well as tendon, nerve, and microvascular surgery. Mark is one of only a few orthopaedic surgeons in Queensland to have completed two highly competitive, sub-specialty clinical fellowships.

In 2018, Mark established Balance Orthopaedics on the Sunshine Coast, where he offers advanced operative and non-operative treatments. His approach integrates not only the mechanical aspects of orthopaedic care but also the physiological factors affecting each patient’s overall health. Effective patient communication and care are central to Mark’s practice.

With a background in elite sport, Mark understands the rigours of recovery and rehabilitation from injury to return to the sporting field. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys an active lifestyle on the Sunshine Coast with his wife and four children, often engaging in hiking, mountain biking, and surfing.

A message from Dr Mark Robinson

Orthopaedic Surgeon

For many, deciding to undergo surgery can be daunting, and choosing the right surgeon is a crucial step in this journey. It’s important to find a surgeon you can trust with your health and well-being. This trust should be based on the surgeon’s credentials, training, experience, and character. Different surgeons have varying styles, qualifications, expertise, and approaches, and it’s essential to select one whose reasoning and recommendations resonate with you.

My Surgical Philosophy

My approach to surgery is rooted in evidence-based practices, utilising cutting-edge techniques and equipment. This approach has been shaped by my experiences in Australia, North America, and Europe, where I have had the privilege of working alongside internationally renowned orthopaedic surgeons. I prioritise a comprehensive understanding of every patient’s life, ensuring that I consider not only their anatomy and clinical issues but also their individual concerns, personality, and lifestyle. My focus is to achieve the best possible outcome for you.
